Licensure Job Placement Education Fraud

Licensure and Job Placement Education Fraud Lawyers.

For-profit schools often uphold the ideals held by the best educators regarding the improvement of students' lives and minds. For-profit schools are businesses, however, and, unfortunately sometimes commit fraud and misrepresentation common to organizations pursuing maximum profits.

Two areas of educational fraud that for-profit trade schools, career schools and on-line schools can commit are licensure and job placement fraud:

  • Licensure fraud involves schools making untrue claims regarding licensure or certification claims for graduates, or failing to adequately explain licensing limitations for graduates.
  • Job placement fraud involves schools making false statements regarding job placement rates for graduates.

Do you suspect your for-profit school exaggerated employment opportunities or job placement rate for its graduates? Did you graduate from a for-profit school, and then learn your degree does not qualify you for professional licensing? Contact and educational fraud lawyer at (214) 290-8001 or (888) 416-9572.

At the Law Office of Julie Johnson we help students and former students obtain a fair resolution for claims against fraudulent schools across the United States.

In one situation, a school was found to have violated the Texas Defective Trade Practice Act by claiming a 99.4 percent placement rate for students graduating from a program, when the actual placement rate was just three percent.

We also handle cases involving licensure fraud. One program offered an expensive interior design program. However, in order for graduates to work in the field, they needed to be licensed by the State Board of Architectural Examiners (SBAE), and the SBAE did not recognize the school's degree.

In another situation, a school offered a degree for surgical technicians, but the state and federal governing boards for the field did not recognize the school's degree, and would not allow the school's graduates to sit for the certification exam.

Over 500 for-profit schools open in the United States each year and, due to an overhaul of student loan laws, most are able and eager to pursue students and students' federally backed loans. Educational fraud has been the inevitable result.
