The Education Trust released a report, entitled “Subprime Opportunity: The Unfulfilled Promise of For-Profit Colleges and Universities.” The Trust promotes high academic achievement for students and is working to close the gap between opportunity and achievement.
The report found that for-profit colleges are creating a subbasement of the American economy for the middle class. The Education Trust reports that students are saddled with heavy debt and no opportunity for meaningful employment. The high cost programs are doing little more than putting lots of money into the corporations that run them.
